This site was created to share Peace Corps experiences and resources with others. More than 3,560 Peace Corps Volunteers have been working and living in Sierra Leone since 1962. Following a decade-long civil war ended in 2001, Peace Corps returned to Sierra Leone after a 16 years absence. Since then, Peace Corps Volunteers have worked to build primary education in the country.Currently, 82 Volunteers serve in Sierra Leone. Volunteers are trained and work in Krio, Mende, Temne, Mandinka, SuSu, Limba and Kuranko.
